Welcome

It’s been said that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. I’d venture to say that the shortest way between two people is over a meal or even a cup of coffee. On this website I welcome you in to my life in the kitchen. I’ve baked and cooked for a long time. I’ve picked up skills and recipes along the way, some of which I’ll be sharing with you here. Like many of you I’ve watched countless of baking shows and cooking programs,  I’ve attended Cake School at Konditor and Cook. I like a good balance of flavours and I’d say aesthetically I go for perfectly imperfect; a naked or semi naked layer cake is my favourite.
I love to bake and cook for friends and sit around the table sharing a meal.

Sweet Dreams

I’ve had a sweet tooth for as long as I remember and when I was younger I didn’t have any restraints, so I’d would eat cakes and candy more or less every day. Very unhealthy, yes but thankfully I was an active kid so the pounds stayed off and I had good oral hygiene. In this section you’ll find recipes for cakes, biscuits and yeasted bakes. Something for morning, noon and night.

Savoury Snacks

Both my mum and dad cooked when I grew up and encouraged my brother and I to participate and learn as they went along. I truly believe that that gave both he and I invaluable skills which we still benefit from today. When I am back at my parents I love it when we prepare a meal together. Often it’s old danish favourites but sometimes I’ll introduce them to something I’ve come across or I love to cook at home. Some of those you’ll find here.

Tom Bang Baker

I’m a big believer in learn by doing which is how this website got up and running. Well that and a VERY persuasive and patient friend. I’ve taken a couple of baking courses with Konditor and Cook but aside from that most of what I’ve learned has been through convrsation with friends and just trying. Most of the time it works out well and sometimes it’s a disaster. Hopefully that section won’t bet too big as we go along.
